DIVERISFY!

It is so important that you do not rely on just one source of income. All it takes is one medical bill or job loss to create a significant financial hardship.

It does not matter if you are solely W2 or solely 1099, having a side gig is crucial. Rather than look at the side gig money as small....ask yourself, "What bill does this pay?" Is it your phone? Electric? Internet? Credit Card?

Spend at least part of your off time creating a second income. Microtasks, surveys and a PT 1099 can help you create and sustain a money buffer.

REVERSE BUDGETS

A reverse budget is one way to determine how much you need to make at a minimum to cover your bills. Here is an example:

Rent: 1200

Car/Gas/Ins: 500

Groceries: 500

Subscriptions/Services: 120

Pets/Fun Money: 80

Credit Cards: 150

Utilities: 220

So your total monthly for bills is $2770. That means your net income per week needs to be at least $692.50 to cover the bare minimum. So for this example, the person would need to make more than $17.32 per hour to cover the basics. This is why stacking positions is done by so many people.

So for this purpose, we will say that the person is single or has one other adult in their household. They make $15/hour ($2400 gross monthly. They also participate in Prolific and Cloud connect for an extra $220 per month. This still would not cover the nessecities. So they would have to grab a PT position doing something else if the other person in the house did not work.

What The Heck?!?

We have to have a discussion about manners!

Too many times I have noticed over the past few years that during training and while on camera, people are gross. Let's just be honest. Please make sure that when you are on break to turn the camera off!

We are seeing more and more people scratch and dig in their behinds as they stand up. People with sex toys, drug paraphenelia and much more. For everyone who complains about not being able to find a job, being given a chance and much more....this is NOT how we should act.

Plan Plan Plan!

If you are not working currently, you actually already have a job! Your job search IS your job.

I am a BIG advocate of daily planners. They will keep you honest with how you spend your time and what goals were met or not met. You do not need to buy a fancy planner from Amazon. Open a word document, date it and then just type in the time spent on each task. Write out your goals for the day.

For example, you could write down that you will apply to five job postings each day. Another goal would be to do microtasks/surveys each day until you get a paying job. You can earn an extra $220/month easily. This will help out but not replace a FT job.

Make sure that you hold yourself accountable! Build a network of like minded people and touch base each day.
